Practice Description

Our clinic is located in the Thickwood area of Fort McMurray. It is in the same building as a pharmacy which is next door. Across the parking lot is a Sobeys and there is a strip mall with a number of other stores. There are three physicians working in the clinic and we all generally see our own patients unless one of us is away. We have 8 exam rooms and 2 specific rooms that I see patients in. There are 3 full time and 2 part time staff and they are very friendly and helpful in making sure the clinic runs smoothly. We have electronic medical records and use the Wolf EMR.
Fort McMurray is a relatively young town and therefore generally our patients are also. Fort McMurray has a high birth rate and so there are many families as well. This is an office practice and so there is no hospital work or call required. My hours are generally 8:30am to 4:30pm. There is also opportunity to work occupational medicine on an on call basis, if desired. As well, we have a family medicine residency program in town. If desired, teaching positions are also available through the University of Alberta. A split would generally be about 70/30.
There is a walk-in clinic in Fort McMurray that many of the local family physicians take turns working in if they wish, and so this is an option to supplement your income.
