Covenant Health, in partnership with Alberta Health Services and The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, invites applicants to apply for a clinical Pediatrician position within Community Pediatrics in the Department of Child Health.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have responsibilities for clinical service, working with a multidisciplinary team in the Pediatrics for Kids in Care (PKIC) program primarily at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital.

The program works in partnership with Child and Family Services (CFS), with a focus on the well-being and medical needs of at risk and often socially vulnerable children. The program cares for abused and neglected children providing ongoing care to a risk children. The program collaborates across medical disciplines and within multiple government ministries (Education, Justice, Children’s Services and Health).

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a pediatrician with at least 5 years clinical experience in the area of child maltreatment assessment and intervention. Training, experience, and expertise in the medical evaluation of physical and sexual abuse is required.

A thorough understanding of the developmental consequences and developmental and mental health needs of children who experience child maltreatment is essential. The candidate should have a history of having demonstrated the necessary interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with academic and community colleagues. Experience with the child death review process an asset.

Interested applicants must hold an MD, have accredited pediatric specialty training by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and be eligible for licensure with CPSA. The candidate must be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Compensation
The position is a 1.0 FTE Fee-For Service position and is sponsorship eligible.

Physician Agreement Incentives

A Flat Fee is paid to physicians who practice & reside this community of $0 per year provided his/her annual income for insured services is greater than $50,000. (Residency conditions apply, including living in the eligible community for nine of the previous twelve months ending on the payment date.) The Variable Fee Premium paid is an additional 0% for insured services provided in this community.

Rural, Remote, Northern Program (RRNP) - Please note, payments through the RRNP are capped at $60,000 per physician per year.

Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.

Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.

Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.

Business Cost Program - addresses escalating practice costs in community based practices. This fee modifier is added automatically to select office visits and consultations. This program applies across the province and all physicians who provide visit services in an office based setting will receive an additional $2.75 with the exception of Calgary and Airdrie where the fee modifier is $3.25 on select office visits and consultations.
