The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applicants to apply for a clinical tract position within the Division of Pediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics.
The successful applicant will join 8 pediatric respirologists providing a full spectrum of clinical respiratory and sleep services. In addition to clinical care, the division is active in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and has a fully accredited Pediatric respirology subspecialty-training program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The Division of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine also has several individuals who have completed a 1-year paediatric sleep fellowship. We have an active basic and clinical science program, collaborating locally, nationally and internationally.
This position will be comprised of approximately 70% clinical service and 30% academic pursuits: teaching and/or research. Contributions to education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels are expected from all faculty members.
Interested applicants must hold an MD and must have completed a subspecialty residency in Pediatric respirology, and be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Pediatric respirology). Successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), and also have their American board certification in pediatric sleep medicine.

Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan. ($250,000-$300,000)

Qualifications & Experience
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (desired)
A Flat Fee is paid to physicians who practice & reside this community of $0 per year provided his/her annual income for insured services is greater than $50,000. (Residency conditions apply, including living in the eligible community for nine of the previous twelve months ending on the payment date.) The Variable Fee Premium paid is an additional 0% for insured services provided in this community.
Rural, Remote, Northern Program (RRNP) - Please note, payments through the RRNP are capped at $60,000 per physician per year.
Retention Benefit - supports and promotes the retention of physicians in Alberta by rewarding their continuous years of service to Albertans. Physicians receive between $5,141 and $12,852 depending on their years of service to Albertans.
Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.
Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.
Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.
Business Cost Program - addresses escalating practice costs in community based practices. This fee modifier is added automatically to select office visits and consultations. This program applies across the province and all physicians who provide visit services in an office based setting will receive an additional $2.75 with the exception of Calgary and Airdrie where the fee modifier is $3.25 on select office visits and consultations.
