Glenrose Hospital Tourett’s Disorders Clinic
Alberta Health Services, Department of Addiction & Mental Health in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Psychiatry, is inviting applications from psychiatrists with expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferably with subspecialty certification.
Alberta Health Services is Canada’s largest and only province-wide health service provider, providing care for more than 3 million people. Our partnership together with the Alberta Government’s investment of more than $50 million in Child Mental Health has provided for significant innovations in our approach to the care we provide. Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education, and speech language pathology provide education and assistance for more than 1.2 million people in Edmonton and surrounding areas.
The part time 0.5 FTE psychiatry role leads a multi-disciplinary team to provide intensive tertiary care treatment for complex children and youth with Tourette’s disorder and associated comorbidities. Leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with team member and management would be an asset. The outgoing psychiatrist is willing to provide mentorship for the successful candidate.
An interest in education of residents and students is highly desirable as the successful candidate is expected to apply for an Academic Appointments in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the University of Alberta has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.
Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry, preferably have subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and experience and interest in Tourette’s Spectrum Disorders. S/he must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

A Flat Fee is paid to physicians who practice & reside this community of $0 per year provided his/her annual income for insured services is greater than $50,000. (Residency conditions apply, including living in the eligible community for nine of the previous twelve months ending on the payment date.) The Variable Fee Premium paid is an additional 0% for insured services provided in this community.
Rural, Remote, Northern Program (RRNP) - Please note, payments through the RRNP are capped at $60,000 per physician per year.
Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.
Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.
Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.
Business Cost Program - addresses escalating practice costs in community based practices. This fee modifier is added automatically to select office visits and consultations. This program applies across the province and all physicians who provide visit services in an office based setting will receive an additional $2.75 with the exception of Calgary and Airdrie where the fee modifier is $3.25 on select office visits and consultations.
