Practice Description

The Nanton Medical Clinic is a one stop shop for local health care needs as the Nanton Community Health Centre houses the physicians’ clinic, Nurse Practitioners, Public Health, Home Care and Laboratory services. The pharmacy is next door as is a local physiotherapist and a block away is the Designated Supportive Living site. We also bring many specialists to the area including mental health, dietician, diabetic, respiratory and foot care to be involved in our patient care.

Job Description

Responsibilities/Duties:
The Nanton Medical Clinic is seeking a 0.6 FTE (3 days per week) (will consider 0.8 FTE if interest) part-time family physician to join their clinic under an Alternative Relationship Program (ARP), with no designated after hours call. Ideal for a physician wanting a rural community, relaxed atmosphere with ‘down to earth’ people. The physician will have a diverse panel including young families through to geriatric patients ranging in complexity which allows the physician to utilize a vast array of clinical expertise within their scope.

• Program and overhead support from AHS for practice expenses in the form of capital costs (e.g., premises) or variable costs (e.g., administrative support, IT, office supplies & medical supplies & equipment) • Potential for greater physician and patient satisfaction, with a comprehensive framework.

With a population of approximately 2,200 people, the community of Nanton can be found 40 minutes south of Calgary along Highway 2. Nanton is best known for its authentic lifestyle and a wide-range of local events focused on the community’s antique and culture scene with museums such as the Lancaster Air Museum. This unique southern Alberta community offers its residents a relaxed lifestyle in a great locale, allowing for spending time with family at home or enjoying one of the Town’s many recreational facilities. There are plenty of opportunities to become involved in the community through service clubs and local societies. Qualifications:
Current CPSA and CMPA required

Experience in rural family medicine, geriatric population and women’s health preferred

Must read, write and speak English

Compensation:
As per ARP agreement, a competitive hourly rate. The details can be discussed with the ARP representative.

Physician Agreement Incentives

A Flat Fee is paid to physicians who practice & reside in this community of $8200.00 per year provided his/her annual income for insured services is greater than $50,000. (Residency conditions apply, including living in the eligible community for nine of the previous twelve months ending on the payment date.) The Variable Fee Premium paid is an additional 0.00% for insured services provided in this community.

Rural, Remote, Northern Program (RRNP) - Please note, payments through the RRNP are capped at $60,000 per physician per year.

Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.

Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.

Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.

Business Cost Program - addresses escalating practice costs in community based practices. This fee modifier is added automatically to select office visits and consultations. This program applies across the province and all physicians who provide visit services in an office based setting will receive an additional $2.75 with the exception of Calgary and Airdrie where the fee modifier is $3.25 on select office visits and consultations.
