Includes the opportunity for inpatient coverage, Lodge/Assisted Living coverage, and potentially ER work depending on current staffing needs. Current ER schedule consists of 10-hour day shifts and 14-hour night shifts.

Job Description

Trinity Rose Medical Clinic is seeking a Family Physician to join our clinic in Didsbury. The town is located approximately 45 minutes north of Calgary, with a population of 5,000. We have a physician who will be departing in August 2017 for family reasons, so we are looking for a candidate to take over her panel of approximately 700 patients and to build a larger practice if they so desire.

In addition to clinic-based practice, this position also offers an opportunity for hospital work. Local physicians provide weekday inpatient coverage for their own patients, and also any unattached patients admitted during their ER shifts. Weekend inpatient coverage is provided by the ER on-call physician. The ER roster is currently full, but should a spot become available, physicians practicing in the community would be eligible to apply. In the meantime, there would be occasional opportunities to provide ER coverage for vacations or other absences on the part of the regularly scheduled physicians. The current ER call schedule consists of 10-hour day shifts and 14-hour night shifts, with an average of one shift per physician per week.

We also have a long-term-care unit at the hospital site, in addition to two Assisted Living facilities in Didsbury. Applicants would not be obligated to provide coverage at these facilities, but would have the opportunity to do so.

Our clinic belongs to the Highland PCN, which provides us with an excellent multi-disciplinary team, among other valuable services. These include practitioners embedded in the clinic on a rotating basis, in addition to centralized services at the Didsbury hospital and at the PCN office in Airdrie.

We are not eligible for an AHS sponsorship position, so candidates must already possess a valid CPSA practice permit for Alberta.

Physician Agreement Incentives

A Flat Fee is paid to physicians who practice & reside in this community of $7922.13 per year provided his/her annual income for insured services is greater than $50,000. (Residency conditions apply, including living in the eligible community for nine of the previous twelve months ending on the payment date.) The Variable Fee Premium paid is an additional 7.36% for insured services provided in this community.

Rural, Remote, Northern Program (RRNP) - Please note, payments through the RRNP are capped at $60,000 per physician per year.

Retention Benefit - supports and promotes the retention of physicians in Alberta by rewarding their continuous years of service to Albertans. Physicians receive between $5,141 and $12,852 depending on their years of service to Albertans.

Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.

Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.

Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.

Business Cost Program - addresses escalating practice costs in community based practices. This fee modifier is added automatically to select office visits and consultations. This program applies across the province and all physicians who provide visit services in an office based setting will receive an additional $2.75 with the exception of Calgary and Airdrie where the fee modifier is $3.25 on select office visits and consultations.
