Practice Description

Our current 9 physician team includes 2 GP surgeons, 2 GP Anesthetists and 1 Endoscopist. Our entire physician team practices obstetrics and works together as a cohesive group both in clinic and hospital.

The Associate Clinic in Pincher Creek is a rural primary care clinic that strives to provide excellence in primary care and urgent care for the community and to enable patients to be partners in the management of their health care. Our clinic is co-located with the local hospital in rural southwestern Alberta.

We serve Pincher Creek and the surrounding communities, including many residents of the nearby Piikani reserve, Cowley, Lundbreck, and Waterton Park — approximately 10,000 patients in all. We also operate a satellite clinic on the Piikani reserve and provide service to Vista Village (a Good Samaritans designated assisted living facility) and Crestview Lodge.

Services are provided through the clinic by a team comprised of 9 physicians, a registered nurse, licensed practical nurses, medical office assistants, a social worker, a dietician, a pharmacist, respiratory therapists, receptionists, resident physicians and medical students. Administrative supports include onsite billing, medical transcription, 3rd party billing and an IT database expert.
Our physicians enjoy practicing in an environment that has low physician attrition and potential for high income in a clinic which has been secured through a favourable, long term lease.

Job Description

The right person to join our team will be a Family Physician with enhanced surgical skills/ GP surgery skills. Family Physicians with the desire to complete enhanced surgical skills training may also be considered. Responsibilities will include performing C-sections and other low risk surgical procedures, assisting visiting orthopedic and general surgeons, as well as providing surgical and emergency on- call services for our rural community.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (required)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (desired)
  • MOREOB (desired)
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) (desired)
  • Certification in The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) (required)

Physician Agreement Incentives

A Flat Fee is paid to physicians who practice & reside in this community of $13350.26 per year provided his/her annual income for insured services is greater than $50,000. (Residency conditions apply, including living in the eligible community for nine of the previous twelve months ending on the payment date.) The Variable Fee Premium paid is an additional 12.40% for insured services provided in this community.

Rural, Remote, Northern Program (RRNP) - Please note, payments through the RRNP are capped at $60,000 per physician per year.

Retention Benefit - supports and promotes the retention of physicians in Alberta by rewarding their continuous years of service to Albertans. Physicians receive between $5,141 and $12,852 depending on their years of service to Albertans.

Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.

Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.

Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.

Business Cost Program - addresses escalating practice costs in community based practices. This fee modifier is added automatically to select office visits and consultations. This program applies across the province and all physicians who provide visit services in an office based setting will receive an additional $2.75 with the exception of Calgary and Airdrie where the fee modifier is $3.25 on select office visits and consultations.
