Divisional Director - Developmental Pediatric
Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry –
Department of Pediatrics and Alberta Health Services

The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS), is inviting applications for the Division Director of Developmental in the Department of Pediatrics.

The successful applicant will join the Division of Developmental Pediatrics, comprised of developmental pediatricians, pediatric rehabilitation medicine specialists, child psychiatrists, psychologists and a pediatric nurse practitioner, in providing interdisciplinary care for children with a variety of developmental disabilities.

The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, the largest freestanding comprehensive tertiary rehabilitation centre in North America offers inpatient and outpatient assessment and services for children with cognitive and motor disabilities, including learning disabilities, intellectual disability, ADHD, speech-language disorders, autism, FASD, cerebral palsy, and acquired brain injuries.

In a family centered environment, children are treated by a comprehensive team of allied professionals. A group of pediatricians, physiatrists, and developmental pediatricians provide medical coverage for outpatient specialty clinics and a 10 bed tertiary Pediatric Intensive Rehabilitation Inpatient 24 hour care program.

The Department is seeking a dynamic, visionary leader who will be supportive of all elements in thedivision. The successful candidate will be an active advocate for the division, and will be collegial and consultative in his or her leadership to drive educational innovation, maximize research output within the division, and lead strategic growth initiatives. The successful applicant shall hold an MD, have or be eligible for certification in Pediatrics with the Royal

College of Physicians of Canada, and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Completion of specialty training in Pediatric Developmental is also required. He or she will be recognized internationally through scholarly accomplishment in research and teaching. Preference will be given to individuals with administrative experience in an academic setting at an Associate Professor or a Professor level.

Commensurate with experience, an appropriate contingent tenure-track academic appointment will be offered in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive academic alternate funding plan. ($250,000-$500,000)

Physician Agreement Incentives

A Flat Fee is paid to physicians who practice & reside this community of $0 per year provided his/her annual income for insured services is greater than $50,000. (Residency conditions apply, including living in the eligible community for nine of the previous twelve months ending on the payment date.) The Variable Fee Premium paid is an additional 0% for insured services provided in this community.

Rural, Remote, Northern Program (RRNP) - Please note, payments through the RRNP are capped at $60,000 per physician per year.

Retention Benefit - supports and promotes the retention of physicians in Alberta by rewarding their continuous years of service to Albertans. Physicians receive between $5,141 and $12,852 depending on their years of service to Albertans.

Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.

Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.

Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.

Business Cost Program - addresses escalating practice costs in community based practices. This fee modifier is added automatically to select office visits and consultations. This program applies across the province and all physicians who provide visit services in an office based setting will receive an additional $2.75 with the exception of Calgary and Airdrie where the fee modifier is $3.25 on select office visits and consultations.
