Job Description

Riverside Medical is looking for 2 energetic physicians interested in full-time rural clinic practice in Drumheller, Alberta. We are a friendly practice currently accepting walk-ins and new patients. The service area of Drumheller is about 33,000 with the majority of those without a personal family physician.

Riverside Medical is a brand new patients first, Patient Medical Home clinic with an on-site pharmacy, minor procedure room, walk-in clinic and beautiful views of the valley. The clinic is a 2 minute drive from the Drumheller Health Centre, where laboratory and diagnostic imaging (including x-ray, ultrasound and CT) services are provided.

We are a busy family practice, which includes comprehensive care and chronic disease management. We are integrated with the Big Country Primary Care Network and provide preventative care management, chronic pain clinic, and patient education sessions on healthy living, diabetes management, and much more.

We want physicians that believe in a balanced life and in making the clinic a patient medical home, offering a multitude of services, such as same day appointments. We are currently fee-for-service but are considering alternate remuneration plans when the appropriate option becomes available. We offer a very unique, competitive, and equally shared overhead fee structure. We have wonderful and amazing staff, including a 20+ year clinic general manager, reliable patient care coordinators, and self motivated nursing patient care managers. We are incorporating numerous cutting edge medical technologies, including virtual medicine and secure email messaging, to better serve our patients. We have a dedicated social media expert to maintain and capitalize on our online presence to connect with our patients and the community at large.

Riverside Medical is also a teaching site with medical students, clerks, residents and nurse practitioners frequently completing their rotations with us.

Currently, Riverside Medical operates almost exclusively paperless via MedAccess.

Adequate and free parking facilities for staff and patients are available.

Qualifications:
The candidate will hold certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada and be licensed to practice in Alberta (CPSA). New graduates are welcome to apply. In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.

BCLS certification required.
ACLS certification would be an asset.

Drumheller is located 85 minutes Northeast of Calgary and has a warm small town feel. It offers great schools, affordable living, a popular golf course, beautiful hiking trails, and is the location of the world-renowned Royal Tyrell Museum. The summer months are busy with tourists and fun activities.

Physician Agreement Incentives

A Flat Fee is paid to physicians who practice & reside in this community of $12176.60 per year provided his/her annual income for insured services is greater than $50,000. (Residency conditions apply, including living in the eligible community for nine of the previous twelve months ending on the payment date.) The Variable Fee Premium paid is an additional 11.32% for insured services provided in this community.

Rural, Remote, Northern Program (RRNP) - Please note, payments through the RRNP are capped at $60,000 per physician per year.

Retention Benefit - supports and promotes the retention of physicians in Alberta by rewarding their continuous years of service to Albertans. Physicians receive between $5,141 and $12,852 depending on their years of service to Albertans.

Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.

Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.

Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.

Business Cost Program - addresses escalating practice costs in community based practices. This fee modifier is added automatically to select office visits and consultations. This program applies across the province and all physicians who provide visit services in an office based setting will receive an additional $2.75 with the exception of Calgary and Airdrie where the fee modifier is $3.25 on select office visits and consultations.
